A favourite cup, and the tender truth that special things can break. A quiet way to love what we have while knowing nothing lasts forever.
The real source

For grown-ups
The Stoic point is not to love less, but to love clearly: to know that what we love is fragile, and to love it anyway. Do not turn this into “it was only a cup.” The cup mattered. The practice is to name the nature of the thing and grieve without pretending the love was foolish.
A little practice: When something loved changes, say: it was special, and special things can change.
The line your child keeps in Pocket: “Some special things can break.”
